My Story
Born in India, yoga has always been a part of my life. I have been drawn to the practices of Bhakti yoga from a young age and have fond childhood memories of participating in kirtan and mantra meditation with my grandmother. My mothers, mum and mum in law have been my biggest influence, both practicing yoga not just as a discipline but as a way of life. They have been my role models, inspiring me with their dedication to the path of Bhakti yoga and Seva yoga of selfless service.
I grew up in a culture that values the concept of multigenerational families. For the elders in our family yogic traditions were a regular part of their daily lives being passed on for generations. Pranayama and meditation, Ayurvedic home remedies like turmeric milk, avoiding certain food combinations and many other yogic traditions were being practiced for generations. I grew up in an environment where yoga was not limited to a practice on the mat, but was integrated into our daily lives.
In 2010, I committed myself to a holistic practice of the eight limbs of yoga. A consistent daily practice was life -transforming. To deepen my practice, I completed a 500-hour Diploma in yoga teacher training. I trained in the classical tradition of T. Krishnamacharya from The Yoga Institute, with Michael De Manincor and Lisa Grauaug. Meditation is an integral part of my classes and I completed my Meditation Teacher training with Mark Breader and Cristina Arango from the YogaCoach. As a teacher and a student of yoga, I believe in the value of continuous education and am continuously upskilling my yoga teaching skills with various teacher trainings.
